Jack: The Pedophile

Jack Gerritsen (born May 9, 1936; aliases include Gerriten, Geritsen, Gerrioten, and similar spellings) is a required lifetime-registered sex offender in California under Megan's Law. His listed offense includes a prior-code conviction under California Penal Code § 647a for sexually annoying or molesting a child under 18 years of age. Registry entries also reference indecent exposure under the current statute Penal Code § 314.1 (lewd or indecent exposure).

Gerritsen has claimed he was wrongfully convicted, that the government lied about the case, and that he is innocent. In other statements, he has attributed the conviction to his protests against the Vietnam War.

During a conversation with one of his stepsons, the stepson stated he had no knowledge that Jack was a registered sex offender or listed in California's Megan's Law database.

It is possible the indecent exposure offense (now under § 314) occurred prior to or around 1970, though exact court details from that era are limited in publicly available online records.
